Welcome to MENA in the middle, a site which serves as a portfolio for unpublished fragments and left-overs from various projects I have been involved in. I am an independent analyst, working on political risk and finance, and projects related to conflict-resolution and peace-building, as well as writing on identity politics and politics more broadly. I have gravitated around the periphery of the MENA region and have been based mainly in Turkey and Tunisia, both countries with complicated identity relationships with the region. I have written mainly, but not exclusively, on Cote d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Dubai, Iraq, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey and Syria.
